About Magen David
Free Jewish wisdom, made practical.
Why this exists
So much of Jewish wisdom is locked behind language, assumption, or a feeling that you need to already belong. Magen David exists to open it up — to teach Kabbalah and Judaism in plain, practical language that anyone can use, whether you are deeply observant, quietly searching, or simply curious.
Whose project this is
Magen David was founded by Eitan Gorodetsky. It grew out of a personal conviction that this wisdom is too beautiful to keep locked away — and a hope to turn learning into giving over time. You can read why he built it, and how he sees Judaism, in his note. He'd genuinely love to hear from you: etan.gorodetsky@gmail.com.
How we write
We write in a warm, practical, story-led voice — the accessible spirit of teachers like Rabbi Zamir Cohen and the work of Hidabroot. We study their teaching and that of the classical sources, and then we write our own original guides in our own words. We point you toward those teachers and texts so you can go to them directly — see the Library.
What we are — and are not
We are learners and teachers in the tradition, not a rabbinic authority. Nothing here is a halachic ruling. For decisions that carry real weight — practice, conversion, mourning, a crisis in a marriage or in health — please speak with a qualified rabbi or professional. We will always tell you when a question is bigger than a guide.
We never invent facts, statistics, or quotes, and we never republish another teacher's videos or books. Where Torah and science genuinely meet, we show it honestly and cite real sources.
Independence
Magen David is an independent teaching project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Magen David Adom or any of its national societies.
